How to Prepare for a Product Photo Shoot
A great product shoot is 80% preparation. Here's how to show up ready so the images come out selling.
The difference between a flat product shoot and a great one is usually preparation. Here's how to arrive ready.
Bring the right products
Send clean, undamaged samples — ideally a couple of each in case one has a flaw the camera catches. For food, freshness is everything.
Have references
Collect 5–10 images of the look you want — lighting, angles, styling. A shared reference board saves hours and gets you the result you pictured.
Agree the shot list
Decide the shots upfront: pack shots on white (for marketplaces), lifestyle/styled sets (for social and the website), detail shots. Know where each will be used.
Think about usage
Website, Instagram, delivery apps and print all want different crops and ratios. Flag them so you get everything in one shoot, not a reshoot.
Bring this and the shoot runs tight. See product photography in Dehradun or food & cafe photography.
