The Website Launch Checklist Nobody Gives You

A new site can look finished and still be broken where it matters. Here's the launch checklist that saves you.

A website can look done and still fail on the things that matter. Before you go live, run this checklist — it's the one most people skip and regret.

Content & design

  • Every page proofread (typos kill trust)
  • One clear call-to-action per page
  • Real content, not lorem ipsum or placeholders
  • Consistent branding across every page

Mobile & speed

  • Tested on real phones, not just resized on desktop
  • Images compressed (the #1 cause of slow sites)
  • Loads in under ~2.5 seconds
  • Nothing overflowing or breaking on small screens

SEO basics

  • Unique title + meta description on every page
  • One H1 per page, descriptive URLs
  • Sitemap generated and submitted to Google Search Console
  • Structured data where relevant
  • No "noindex" left on from staging (this one burns people)

Functionality

  • Every form tested — and the submissions actually arrive
  • All links work (no 404s)
  • Contact details correct
  • Payments/bookings tested end-to-end if you have them

Technical

  • HTTPS working, no mixed-content warnings
  • Analytics installed and firing
  • Favicon and social share image set
  • 404 page that helps, not dead-ends
  • Backups in place

After launch

  • Submit the sitemap, request-index key pages
  • Watch analytics for anything broken
  • Fix the leaks the first week reveals

Miss the boring items — the noindex flag, the broken form, the slow images — and a beautiful site quietly underperforms for months. The checklist is what separates "launched" from "launched well."
