Corporate lighting has a specific, unglamorous job: make the speaker clearly visible, on camera, for the whole session, without washing out the screen behind them. That balance — enough light on the presenter, not so much that the LED wall or projection goes grey — is the entire problem, and it's why conference recordings so often have a well-lit slide and a dim speaker.

Exhibition lighting is judged by one thing: does your stand pull attention away from the one next to it. That's a question of contrast and colour quality, not raw brightness — a well-lit stand in a bright hall reads as considered, while a flood of light reads as a showroom. The constraint is almost always the power each exhibitor is allotted, so the plot has to be efficient as well as good.
Why event lighting so often ruins the photographs
The room and the camera want different things. Four problems account for almost every disappointing wedding film and conference recording — and all four are decided at the planning stage, not in editing.
Mixed colour temperature
A venue's warm tungsten downlights, a daylight-balanced LED wash and the hall's own fluorescents in one frame give skin tones that no amount of grading fully rescues. Matching everything to one colour temperature is the single biggest improvement you can make to wedding and event footage.
Flicker on camera
Cheap dimmable LED and older discharge fixtures pulse at a frequency the eye ignores but a camera records as rolling bands — worse at high frame rates, which is exactly what slow-motion coverage uses. Flicker-free fixtures solve it at source.
Beautiful to the eye, silhouettes on camera
Stages are often lit from behind and above because it looks dramatic in the room. On camera it puts the couple or the speaker in shadow. Front fill on faces is what the photo and video team actually need, and it rarely exists unless someone plans it.
Poor colour rendering
Low-CRI fixtures make reds and skin tones go muddy and lifeless. It's invisible in a spec sheet and obvious in the photographs, which is the one deliverable the client keeps forever.

Plan the power with the plot
Lighting is usually the largest electrical load at an event after air conditioning. Large HMI heads and tungsten fixtures draw heavily and pull extra current at strike, so a plot that looks fine on paper can trip a venue's sanctioned supply.
